A Visit With My BU Girls

This past Saturday we drove up to Jonna and Shad's new house for a visit.  It's so fun to get together with these girls (and their families).  We have been friends for 15 years!!!  It seems like just yesterday that we were all at BU together having such a fun time :)  I love that we don't have to have an activity planned, we just hang out (drink a bit of wine) and catch up on our lives.  It's relaxed and fun and perfect.  It's even better that our kids are the same age and play together too!  We're already making plans for May and right now it's a "girls only" date-woo hoo!

Colson was into tackling anybody!

Kickin' It!

I searched and searched for an activity for 2 year old little boys.  I wasn't having a lot of luck.  Gymnastics didn't really seem "up Cole's alley", music class is too much sitting down, a lot of classes you have to be older for.  But then I was flipping through the Peoria Park District catalog at my parents house and I came across the Happy Feet soccer program.  There is a class just for 2 year olds, it's 30 minutes and it's on Mondays (which I already have off every week because of Alyvia's dance class).  Decision made.  Colson was going to try playing soccer!
2/18/13 Before Colson's 1st soccer class

The first Monday was Presidents Day, so Alyvia was along with us too.  The first class was a little "iffy".  Colson didn't want any part of the stretching and he didn't seem very enthused.  But, he ran and kicked the ball and kind of listened to the coach too!  For Colson, I thought he did a good job.  We went again today and he did even better :)  He did all the warm ups that the coach did and he seemed a lot more excited!  I am really proud of my Colson.  He takes a while to "warm up" to new people and situations and during the 2nd class he is really participating!  It makes me so happy to see him be a part of something.  I couldn't care less if he plays soccer growing up, but I don't want him to be afraid to try new things.  Keep it up Colson!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This past Thursday was Valentine's day.  I've never been big on celebrating valentine's day, but I do love to celebrate any holiday with my kids :)  Alyvia had school and she was all decked out for her valentine's day party!

I got Colson and Kendall decked out in their valentine's day outfits too...and spent most of the morning trying to get a picture of them smiling for the camera!

Colson was not in the mood for pictures and he kept putting his hand up and yelling, "NO, NOOOOO!".   He finally was in a better mood around lunch time!

I went to Alyvia's class party in the afternoon and we all went to my mom and dad's house for dinner that night so the kids could get their valentine love from Nana and Papa too.  Having these kids to love on is the best valentine's day present for me!

Kendall is 3 months old!

Miss Kendall, how did you get to be 3 months old already?!

The past couple of weeks you have really started to develop a bigger personality!  You have definitely found your voice :)  You "talk" back to us when we talk to you now and you are getting LOUD when you want to be heard! You are also obsessed with having your hands in your mouth!

It was almost impossible to get a good picture of you without your hands in your face :)  You are smiling so much more now.  When I get home from work and you wake up and notice me, I get the biggest smiles from you.  It makes my heart so full <3

You were sleeping from about 11-5, but the last week or so you are getting up again between 2 and 4 to eat.  I think you must be having a growth spurt!  You are still only eating 4 ounces every feeding.  If we feed you more, you just spit up more :)

Every night after the "big" kids go to bed, we have our special Kendall time.  Daddy and I try to make sure you get held until we go to bed.  I love that time that we get to spend with just you.  You still like to cuddle and I'm trying to soak it in.

We love you Kendall Ashway!

Back to Work, Back to Reality

I went back to work on the 29th, as if you couldn't tell by the lack of blog posts-ha!  It's O.k.  It's a lot better than I thought it would be right after I had Kendall.  Less than 2 weeks after she was born, I was flipping out about going back to work.  I think my hormones might have been making me a bit crazy (-er) at that point :)  BUT, I can say that I made it back, the kids are doing fine with it and I didn't even cry.  Our new sitter is working out great so far.  Colson must like her, I asked him if it was o.k if mommy stayed home with him tomorrow.  His response, No-Audrey!  It only hurt my feelings slightly....

But, more importantly, what have we been up to?!  On Tuesday night Alyvia danced at halftime of the Bradley game with the Bravettes.  She went to their dance camp on Saturday with her friend Lizzie and learned the dance.  They had so much fun and did a great job!

She did such a good job and I wish I could figure out how to upload the video :(  She's such a brave girl and I couldn't be more proud of her.  Way to go Livi!
